Avian Care is a family-style house on Aurora Avenue in Saint Paul, licensed for five residents and never more. Keeping it small changes the math. The same few people cook, handle medications, and notice when a day goes sideways. Some residents live with a developmental disability, and some are building a steady life after substance use. Everyone gets a bedroom, a seat at the table, and a routine that fits them.

Staff here around the clock. In the house 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The office answers weekdays, 9 to 5.
Support built in. Behavior management and substance abuse management are part of everyday care here.

Small enough to notice
Five residents is the whole roster. Staff learn how each person takes their coffee and what a hard morning looks like, and that knowledge follows them into every shift.
Referrals without the runaround
Case managers get a straight answer about openings, funding, and fit. If we are not the right home for someone, we say so early and point you toward a better option.

Who lives here?
Adults 55 and older, five at most. Some residents live with a developmental disability, and some are in recovery. Before anyone moves in, we talk honestly about whether this house is the right fit.
Who takes care of them?
Staff are in the house day and night, every day of the year. Every hire clears a background check and TB screening before their first shift, then finishes training before working alone with residents.
How do we get started?
Call the office or send the referral form. We confirm the opening, walk through funding with your case manager, and set up a visit. If the fit is wrong, you will hear it from us early.
